The UVA Inspire: AI Literacy Bootcamp is an intensive one-week program designed for high school students to explore artificial intelligence and data science. Through hands-on activities using beginner-friendly no-code platforms, students learn how AI systems function, covering fundamentals of machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and generative AI. Participants build and test their own AI models, master prompt engineering, and analyze how AI processes images and text in real-world applications. The curriculum also emphasizes developing critical skills to identify biased algorithms and detect AI-generated content, alongside examining the ethical implications of AI, including privacy, fairness, and societal impact. Students gain practical AI skills, critical thinking tools, and confidence to navigate an AI-powered future, exploring career opportunities in diverse industries.
Each day combines interactive lectures, hands-on labs, and collaborative activities, meeting from 9 AM to 4 PM ET.
